Flashspoter - The long wait has finally paid off. Nintendo has announced that the release of their new gaming device, Nintendo Switch 2, is scheduled for a global launch on June 5, 2025. Being the next-generation device after the original Switch that came out in 2017, the new model not only gets a fresher style but also delivers more feature-rich and much better performance. However, as many fans already predicted, the price also went up quite noticeably.
For the standard version, Switch 2 is priced at USD 450 or around Rp7.2 million. Meanwhile, the bundled package that includes Mario Kart World is released at a price of USD 500 or approximately Rp8 million. For comparison, the first generation Switch used to open at a price of USD 300, so the difference in price increase this time is quite large.
New feature: more social and more fun
Nintendo aims to raise the level of user interaction through the game to a higher degree. With the release of Switch 2, a chat for gamers with no more than 12 people and a video call of up to 4 players are now feasible if the device is equipped with a compatible camera. The idea of multiple player (playing together) also seems to be done more simply.
Joy-Con 2 also has some cool new features in store. This latest generation of a controller can be treated as a mouse, thereby giving a strategy or a simulation game a more natural feel. In addition, a Game Share feature is available, by which players can “lend” digital games to friends for mutual playing. Some titles, like Mario Kart which comes with open world elements, now even support a much broader gaming experience.
On the other hand, the pre-order process in the United States was delayed due to the new import tariff policy of the Trump administration. Even so, a report from Variety confirmed that the global release date remains as planned. Nintendo of America representative Devon Pritchard called the launch of Switch 2 a” big moment " for the company, and they are preparing a large stock to avoid a void at the time of release.
