Flashspoter - Samsung has formally unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold which will be the first multi-folding device to be sold worldwide from December 12, 2025 in South Korea. Samsung's decision to launch the product is a strategic move to keep its dominance in the foldable category as the Chinese manufacturers are becoming more aggressive and Apple rumors are suggesting that it will enter the same segment. The Galaxy Z TriFold features a three-panel design that can be folded with two hinges inward, thus the main screen is shielded from wear and tear and impact.
After a complete unfolding, the Galaxy Z TriFold is able to offer a 10-inch primary display with a resolution of 2160 x 1584 along with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The screen is delivering a much more immersive visual experience than the first few generations of foldable devices. In a folded state, the 6.5-inch cover display is still available for users to carry out their daily activities such as quick messaging, navigation, or calling. Samsung has modified the interface in such a way that the change from phone mode to tablet mode becomes more seamless.
Its thickness when the device is folded is 12.9 mm, which is slightly more than the 8.9 mm of the Galaxy Z Fold7, but it can still be classified as quite a thin one from the multi-folding category. When fully functional, its thinnest part is only about 3.9 mm. Its weight reaches 309 grams, slightly heavier than some other foldable such as the Huawei Mate XT which is in the range of 298 grams. But the increase in weight comes from a double hinge structure, a larger battery, and reinforced frame materials.
As far as the performance goes, TriFold has a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset under the hood, which is tailored to be the most efficient for big-screen devices. The default memory setup offers 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. When it comes to the energy supply, the 5,600 mAh battery that is distributed over three panels is aimed at giving a more stable power supply, while 45W super fast charging is there to keep the charging speed up despite the large capacity.
Its camera features are based on a setup of three primary sensors, which include a 200mp wide, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The main screen and the cover screen, both, are fitted with a 10MP selfie camera. Samsung maintains similar camera quality to the Fold7 line, but optimizes image processing with generative AI support to improve photo stability and editing.
The durability part becomes one of the main focuses. Galaxy Z TriFold uses FlexHinge Armor with a dual rail design of different sizes, so that the pressure when folding is divided more evenly. The back Panel uses ceramic glass fiber reinforced polymer, keeping the device lightweight yet sturdy against cracks. The frame Material uses Advanced Armor Aluminum which increases rigidity without adding much weight. The device also has an IP48 certification that provides water resistance of up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, although protection against dust is still limited.
By means of productivity, the users are allowed to simultaneously run three applications in a visually split vertical manner on a 10-inch screen. Currently, Samsung DeX is able to work independently without the need for an additional monitor, which makes it possible to have up to four different workspaces with each of them capable of running multiple applications. This combination of wide screen, high performance, and multitasking features makes the Galaxy Z TriFold a hybrid device that combines the flexibility of a mobile phone with the capabilities of a work tablet.
The entertainment experience is also enhanced through the Dynamic 2X AMOLED display with a brightness of up to 2600 nits on the cover screen and 1600 nits on the main screen. Vision Booster technology keeps color and contrast optimal in a variety of lighting conditions. The lack of fold lines on the screen makes watching content more comfortable.
After South Korea, the Galaxy Z TriFold launch will be in China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States in Q1 2026. The cost in Korea is fixed at 3,594,000 won which is approximately USD 2,449. Samsung also provides a 50 percent discount for one screen repair and a six-month trial of Google AI Pro for buyers.
